Is Nano-Hydoxyapatite safe for dogs?

Yes! Nano-Hydroxyapatite (nHAp) is a non-toxic, dog-safe fluoride alternative that's been widely studied in both human and veterinary oral care.

What is the Nano-Hydroxyapatite concentration?

Our dental chews contain 1% Nano-Hydroxyapatite, similar to many popular nHA toothpastes marketed for humans.

While much of the clinical research on nHA has focused on a clinical-strength 10% concentration, we formulated with 1% because our 30g dental chews are much larger than a serving of toothpaste, so our 1% concentration delivers a much higher total dose of nHA than the equivalent strength in a pea-sized dollop of toothpaste (≈0.25g).

In this unique dental chew form factor, the amount of nHA is more important than the concentration.

Do I still need to brush my dog’s teeth?

Yes - brushing is always the gold standard. But we designed our chews to get you most of the way there with daily use. Think of them as the baseline oral care every dog parent can stick with.

For the ultimate routine, brush a few times a month with our bestselling Remineralizing Dog Toothpaste, and you'll have a smile your vet will envy.

Are Arterra chews safe for all dogs?

Absolutely. Our chews are formulated for adult dogs of all breeds and sizes. Every batch undergoes rigorous testing to meet the highest safety standards.

If your dog has special dietary needs or sensitivities, check our ingredient list or consult your vet before use.

Are the dental chews meant to replace professional cleanings?

No. Dental chews and toothpaste support daily oral health, but they do not replace professional dental cleanings.

They are best used as part of a broader oral care routine.

How long does a dental chew last?

Chew time varies by dog. Most medium to large dogs take several minutes to fully consume a chew.

The benefit comes from both the mechanical action and the active ingredients.
